Natalie Lowe, Jay McGuiness and Louis Smith to star in new dance show 'Rip It Up'

Publish date: 2024-06-25

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Natalie Lowe is teaming up with two of the show’s champions, Jay McGuiness and Louis Smith, for a brand new 50’s themed dance extravaganza.

Rip It Up will tour venues across the UK in September and October, with the trio dancing to some of the most famous sounds of the 50’s including ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Fly Me To The Moon’. We can expect to see Natalie, Jay, Louis and a cast of dancers perform some incredible swing, bop, jitterbug, lindy hop, jive and ballroom routines.

Natalie, who announced she would be quitting her role as a Strictly professional dancer earlier this year, told PA: “To be able to work with these two incredible Strictly champions and choreograph routines with them to the music from music’s greatest decade is something we are all very excited to be working on. Together, we will dance through some of the most fantastic songs ever created.”

Louis, who won Strictly in 2012 with partner Flavia Cacace added: “A lot of people think of the music of the 50s as just rock ‘n’ roll. Whilst this was the decade that brought us Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Little Richard and more, we will also be celebrating the music of Sinatra, Nat King Cole and all the beautiful vocal harmony groups from that special decade.”

The dancing stars will be accompanied by Radio 2’s Leo Green and his 1950’s band. Jay McGuiness, who won the glitterball in 2015 with Aliona Vilani, said: “To perform with Radio Two’s Leo Green and his band, as well as share the stage with Natalie and Louis and such a talented cast of singers and dancers, should be quite an experience.

“We have some great ideas and are looking forward to bringing them to the theatres around the country, singing and dancing to some of the greatest songs from one of the greatest decades.”

Rip It Up comes from the same producers and director of Remembering Fred, which stars Strictly professional dancers Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec.
