When most people think of celebrities, it’s not often that they associate their favorite stars with hobbies and interests typically associated with ‘nerds.’ As famous celebrities, it is always assumed that these people love partying and soaking up the spotlight – but that isn’t always the case.  Since comic books gained popularity in the Unite States during the 1930s, people from all backgrounds and interests have fallen in love with the illustrated stories.  In many ways, comic books provide readers with a chance to escape to a world nothing like the present. No matter who you are or what you do, it’s always nice to escape and be entertained sometimes.  However, for these celebrities, who are so used to entertaining others – comic books are essential. Here are 10 celebrities who are totally into comic books.

Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers Visits "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"

Multi-talented Seth Meyers definitely has no shame discussing his love for comic books.  During an interview he openly stated, “I’m not ready to admit I’m a grown man. I will fully admit I love comic books.” He also went on to discuss some of his favorite comics, stating, “Locke and Key’ is just great. It’s not a superhero comic, but it’s what I’m reading and enjoying the most. And I’m really enjoying all the Batman stuff from DC right now — Scott Snyder and Graham Morrison, I like what they’re doing. Matt Fraction’s ‘Hawkeye’ has been a great comic book. Fraction said it was his ‘Rockford Files’ comic, and I was like, ‘That’s great.'”

Wil Wheaton

Former child star, Will Wheaton has been finding steady work throughout his entire career.  Although he is a very busy man, he still manages to make time for comic books. However, unlike many people, Wheaton doesn’t just love comic books – he’s actually appeared in one. In 2012, he appeared as a fictionalized version of himself in the comic book,  PS 238.

Seth Green is no stranger to the animated world, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s got a deep love for comic books. Green is actually a co-creator of the comic book series, Freshmen, which was released from 2006 to 2007. The series was described as, “The adventures of college freshmen with extraordinary powers.”

Kevin Smith

Writer/director/producer, Kevin Smith is a very well-known comic book lover. Smith owns a comic book shop in New Jersey, and has written comic books of his own. In order to film his 1994 cult classic, Clerks, which is also his comic book series Smith sold part of his comic book collection – raising nearly $30,000. Throughout his career, Smith has become well-known in the comic book world and he is one of the most popular celebrity comic book lovers.

Donald Glover

Throughout his career, Donald Glover has proudly embraced his ‘nerd’ image. As a result, he’s gained a large cult following.  However, Glover’s image isn’t just for show, he’s actually interested in several things typically associated with nerds, including comic books. Glover was actually part of the inspiration for the comic book character, Miles Morales, who became Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker.

Megan Fox may not seem like she’d be into comic books – but that’s exactly why you should never judge a book by its cover. According to Fox, “My sister used to collect comics when I was a kid, so I got obsessed with it through her. And I really like to draw so I’m obsessed with a lot of the artists that do comic books. It’s just a good world. It makes me feel good. I love Comic Con. I loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was such a big part of my childhood. I just enjoy it.”

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage’s love for comic books has been with him throughout his entire career.  In fact, Cage who was born, Nicolas Coppola, changed his name to Cage was inspired by the Marvel Comics character, Luke Cage. In 2002, Cage auctioned off some of his personal comic book collection, which brought in more than $1 million.  A few years later, he teamed up with his son to create a comic book of their own titled, Voodoo Child.
